A top foreign policy priority of the BJP-led Indian government was to establish close and strategic ties with Israel. This was due to the fact that both nations suffered from Islamic terrorism and shared several common interests. The level of collaboration between the two countries continued to increase after the Indian National Congress came to power in 2004. Israel is now India's second largest arms provider after Russia.
